NUMBER OF LIVESTOCK SLAUGHTERED

Livestock slaughtering quarterly trend movements for December 2014:

Cattle (excluding calves):
The number of cattle slaughtered was 2.4 million, an increase of 2%

Calves:
The number of calves slaughtered was 168,000, a decrease of 2%

Sheep:
The number of sheep slaughtered was 2.5 million, a decrease of 1%

Lambs:
The number of lambs slaughtered was 5.6 million, an increase of 1%

Pigs:
The number of pigs slaughtered remained steady at 1.2 million

Chickens:
The number of chickens slaughtered was 148 million, an increase of 1%
